ROTARY VALVE CRANKCASE SHAFT
In the version dedicated to rotary-valve thrusters, the intake stage was machined inside the half-shaft, in the circular-mass structure itself, which produced a significant inward-facing slot while maintaining a regular outer profile. This innovative choice resulted in a unique shape capable of extremely effective fluid dynamics.
Such conspicuous slots have always been one of the most delicate points on Vespa crankshafts when going for proper balance. Malossi has solved this problem by including inserts made of wolfram in the crankshaft and used as counterweights to increase the stability of the shaft itself.
