Descrizione
The power developed by an engine, whether standard or tuned, will be an end in itself if it is not transmitted to the wheels in the most efficient and effective way, without unnecessary friction and waste of mechanical energy. Malossi a leading manufacturer of high-performance components for the scooter world has focused all its know-how by completely redesigning the primary transmission for the classic Vespa "small frame" to ensure that maximum power is turned into performance on the road.
The new Malossi primary transmission for the Vespa is a true engineering powerhouse. From the highest quality materials to the attention to detail and the quality of the mechanical workmanship, everything is taken to a very high level. From the bronze bushing to the clutch basket and gears everything is machined separately so as to ensure that every single component is manufactured to the highest quality standard.
Heart of the new features introduced in this transmission is the new clutch bell, made of billet special steel it features six clutch plate housings, all six of which are "active" and aimed at locking the plates. This reduces all mechanical play to a minimum, as well as vibration and consequent wear on the basket itself and the disc guide teeth.
The new primary transmission is also completely detachable in order to access the sprocket guard and be able to change its springs. In fact, different sets of springs can be used so that the response of the cage guard can be modified to suit various applications and what is desired. The attention to detail is such that it has required the production of new bell-crank coupling screws designed specifically for this particular mechanic.
The new Malossi primary transmission is extremely customizable; in fact, it is available in two different gear ratios: one, intended for more "quiet" elaborations, in which the pinion/sprocket ratio is 24/72 teeth (final ratio 3) and another, intended for more powerful engines, characterized by the pinion/sprocket ratio of 27/69 teeth (final ratio 2.55). In addition, a pinion gear can be coupled to each of the two options (23- and 25-tooth for the 24/72 and 26- and 28-tooth for the 27/69) so that the desired ratio can be found more precisely.
