This is the challenge: possible to improve the gearbox in which Malossi gears run, super performing and above all more beautiful?

Die-cast aluminum, machined and finished in our lines. It looks like a crankcase but it is not: it is a work of art. The art of ennobling every single part of one of our favorite vehicles, the Ciao (this gearbox fits Piaggio mopeds like Ciao, Si and range cousins). The art of increasing performance by shaping matter within the limits imposed by physics and factory encumbrances.


What's new.

We added ribs to strategic sections to increase stiffness. We increased the diameter of the wheel shaft bearing seat and all others, and added ribs to compensate for the increased performance.
All within the original space: the gearbox uses pressed needle bearings for all the gearbox shafts, NBR oil seals with a spring lip and auxiliary lip, and a labyrinth to trap oil while allowing the gearbox to "breathe."

What we optimized.

The gearbox simplifies gear housing, improves the operation of the brake shoe with dedicated machined surfaces to guide it more accurately. Two concentric positioning bushings enclosed by five screws (one more than the original), with hexagonal cylindrical heads. The gearbox uses high-quality steel pins, pressed into the housing, for the lever and brake shoe pivots. To improve rigidity we have eliminated the gasket: everything is sealed with silicone paste as in the most modern vehicles (perfect is LOCTITE® SI 5926 that you can find in our catalog).
The screws for attachment to the swingarm are now through-bolted and doubled in length, with special sealant applied to the threads, so as to ensure a top fastening. The gearbox comes complete with bearings, oil seals, screws and washers: everything you need for a perfect fit with Malossi gears (but if you want you can also fit it with the original gears).


WARNING: the gearbox does not allow the vehicle to operate in "bicycle" mode.
